About

My name is Lisa McGovern

I began attending a regular yoga class around fifteen years ago, initially looking to try something new. I was quickly drawn to the sense of relaxation and calm I experienced after each session.

Before long, I increased the number of classes I attended, enjoying the gradual improvement in my flexibility and the growing confidence that came as the routines became more familiar.

Over the years, I have practised with many yoga teachers, both in the UK and internationally. In 2024, I enrolled with the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) to undertake their Yoga Teacher Training programme.

Alongside my yoga journey, I work full-time as the manager of the Mary’s Living & Giving shop in Kew Village for Save the Children, a charity I have proudly supported for many years.

For me, yoga is an essential form of self-care — a chance to reconnect body and mind, and to create time and space for myself.

Yoga History

The roots of Yoga can be found in Ancient India, with the earliest linked imagery dating back to 1,500 BCE.

Many philosophies have contributed to Yogic practice including Buddhism, Jainism, and Tantra.

Today it is estimated over 300 million people worldwide practice yoga.

Yoga Today

In our modern and often hectic world Yoga is a respite.

Targetted joint and muscle movement can help reduce tension and increase flexibility.

Combining breath with movement, Yoga can provide physical and mental relaxation.

Yoga for You

The best yoga is the yoga that meets your needs.

Better stability and co-ordination, reduced muscle tension, a tool for relaxation, a developed understanding of your breath.

These are just some of the benefits of yoga practice.
